Fort Nelson Tattoo – evening performance

On 8 September 2012 a display of mounted skill-at-arms was put on at Fort Nelson, Portsmouth, by John Dudeney (then proprietor of Ditchling Common Stud riding school) and David Whyte.

This was as a result of contact being made with John by a representative of Event Foundation.  There were two displays, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening at the end of which all participants (horses included) gathered in the arena for a grand finale which culminated in an awe-inspiring firework display.  The horses were edgy as pieces of fireworks showered down upon them but they stood their ground and proved that – given confidence by their riders – they could cope with what was potentially a very scary experience!!
